What is brushless DC motor?
Brushless DC motor is mainly composed by permanent magnet rotor, multi-poles coil stator and rotor position sensor. The characteristic of brushless dc motor is brushless, adopting semiconductor switch devices (like hall element) to realize electronic commutation. It uses electronic switch device instead of traditional contact commutator and brush. Brushless DC motor has advantage of high reliability, no commutation spark, and low mechanical noise. The position sensor converts the current of stator winding along a certain sequence according to the variation of rotor position, (i.e. to detect the position of the rotor magnetic pole relative to the stator winding, and generate the position sensor signal in determinate location, to control the power switch circuit after processing signal conversion circuit, and to switch winding current according to a certain logic relation).
What is a brushless dc fan?
There is no carbon brush contact between rotor and stator in brushless DC fan. The rotation is achieved by the interaction of the magnetic force in the magnetic field. According to the different voltage, brushless fan is divided into ac voltage brushless fan and dc voltage brushless fan two main types. It works mainly by pushing fluid motion caused by blade rotation pressure, to transfer energy to the surrounding fluid in dynamic way, and to force air flow and remove the heat generated by the system to the outside environment.
