Requirements and restrictions of air cargo are much stricter, comparing with land transportation and sea transportation. Commonly, in permanent magnet industry, strong neodymium magnets  are prohibitive for air freight, because magnetic field will bring influence on instruments of aircrafts. However, in actual situation, it is inevitable to ship out NdFeB magnets  by air. In cases of this kind, we have to pack neodymium iron boron magnets in isolation to magnetism, do magnetic inspection and provide demagnetized reports.
 

According to PI953 under IATA regulations, the maximum magnetic strength should be less than 0.159A/m (0.002 gauss) or there is no significant deflection (less than 0.5 degree) when cargos are observed at a distance of 2.1m (7ft).

Therefore, neodymium permanent magnets  with strong magnetism need to be demagnetized by special agent. In fact, demagnetization does not mean that magnetism completely disappeared, but means that magnets will be recombine in a package so that displayed magnetism can meet requirements of national safe air transport.

In addition, regarding neodymium with less stronger magnetism, our company’s technicians are able to recombine and fix NdFeB permanent magnets in a package, isolate magnetism with iron sheet and pack them with paper boxes. In this way, displayed magnetism of neodymium magnets will be weakened, which can pass safety security check of aviation companies.
