NdFeB Magnets for Hibernation Protective Covers of iPad
iPad Permanent Magnets Manufacturer China Rare Earth Magnet Limited
iPad users may have such feeling that hibernating buttons are not convenient to use and easy to break down. Especially when iPad are put on protective covers, the button are more inconvenient to use. Therefore, protective covers with hibernation function emerge as required. When you place the cover on iPad, its screen will turn dark. And when you open the cover, the screen will automatically turn bright. It is easy and convenient and it can protect the buttons from breaking down. The cover can be fold as a holder for iPad to stay up on the table.
Specification: similar to 4*2mm small block or disc NdFeB permanent magnets
Theory:
An electro magnetic sensor is installed on the right side of iPad and on the left side of protective cover there is a NdFeB magnet installed. Therefore, when protective cover closes, the magnets will be attracted to the frame of iPad. Meanwhile, built-in electro magnets in iPad will sense the magnetism of protective cover, which will trigger lock procedure of iPad system.
It is an ingenious idea that permanent magnets are used in protective covers. Magnets mainly centralize on one side. Through a magnetism observation film, you can see magnets distribution of protective cover and iPad.
There is a magnet on the protective cover that can make iPad enter hibernation. The other magnets are used to fix iPad or to make a triangle holder. But you don’t need to spend money on a protective cover. What you only need to do is to put a small magnet near the sense position.
On the left side of iPad there are a row of small magnets to hold the cove and iPad body. Why these magnets are arranged into a long row and two short rows? Let us disassemble an iPad. The right side of it looks as follow.
The part in the red frame is a hibernation sensor, and screen will be turned off when the sensor touches the round magnets inside the protective cover. There are a row of magnets in the yellow frame which are used to hold the cover and body. Magnetic poles are: positive, negative, positive, negative. Magnets on iPad are always opposite to poles of magnets on the cover, which can guarantee the cover to be hold in a right direction. Magnets on the left side of iPad are inserted in an aluminum cover.
These magnets cover almost the whole body and absorption between magnets and the cover can be closer, for magnetism of these magnets are very strong which can be attracted quickly even there is a long distance between them.
The inner structure has to be seen by cutting the beautiful iPad cover. There is a metal bar on two ends of the protective cover. Magnets (in the red and yellow frame) are fixed on it and then covered with plastic. There are two yellow plastic sheets in the middle which are used as a holder.
Why do the protective cover need 14 magnets? When magnets in this part are folded as a holder, it is the metal part that needs to be attracted, not the magnets. Accordingly, it needs strong magnets distributed in a large size in case that the cover will fall off.
There are six long or short magnets on the left side, of which magnetic force are very strong. With special design of shapes and magnetism of these two groups of magnets, each end can only attract the certain part. Therefore, protective covers cannot stay upside down or a few millimeter away from iPad.
Our company can manufacture permanent magnet inside the protective cover. If you are interested in this product, please contact us by email with drawings of specification.
