Medical magnets can be specified into two kinds, static and dynamic. Commonly seen static products include magnetic earrings, necklace, and other therapy products. Dynamic products refer to magnetic medical equipment which produces rotating magnetic field so that disease can be cured, like permanent magnetic water treatment.
Most industrial magnets have powerful magnetic field. If living in such environment with strong magnetism, it is supposed to hurt human’s health. Therefore, static medical magnets mainly made of ferrite and rubber magnets. But some medical equipment also uses strong magnets, such as neodymium magnets.
In field of medical, neodymium rare earth permanent magnet has been widely used in physical therapy. Due to its excellent magnetic performance and its biological magnetic field similar to human magnetic field, NdFeB magnets are now extensively used in medical area.
MRI uses a large quantity of neodymium iron boron magnets. It can clearly observe the brain, heart, spinal cord, main blood vessels, joints and bones, soft tissue and pelvic cavity etc. For cardiovascular disease, not only can MRI observe the chamber, great vessels and anatomical changes of valve, but it can make ventricular analysis, qualitative and semi-quantitative diagnosis and multiple sectional drawings with high spatial resolution and show outline of heart and pathological changes. It is much better than X-ray imaging, two-dimensional ultrasound, nuclide or CT examination.
