Neodymium Halbach Magnets 20160105
Big Ring Made of Neodymium Arc Magnets with 45 or 90 Degrees Magnetization Direction
N52 or N50M Neodymium Arc Magnets :
We are looking wedge or arc shaped permanent magnets for a 45 degrees Halbach array configuration ring.
Sizes as per drawings
Material = N52
Coating = none
RFQ 1:
Configuration: 45 degrees Halbach array
Total number of magnets = 72
Magnet pitch = 360/72 = 5 degrees
It shows the magnetization orientation. It requires 4 magnetization types. Each type is assembled with the North Pole facing up or down using the through thickness magnetization type, left or right using the through circumference magnetization type and combinations of up-left, up-right, down-left, and down-right using through diagonal magnetization.
Full Neodymium Ring Magnet Using 72pcs
The attached sketch shows the assembled ring. The magnets are glued to an aluminum back plate.
RFQ 2:
Configuration: 90 degrees Halbach array
Total number of magnets = 36
Magnet pitch = 360/36 = 10 degrees
The attached sketch shows the magnetization orientation. It requires 2 magnetization types. Each wedge is assembled with the North Pole facing up or down using the through thickness magnetization type and left or right using the through circumference magnetization type.
Another attachment shows the assembled ring.

Technical Questions about Halbach Magnets:
We are very interested in your proposal and wanted to obtain further magnets technical details.
1. Residual flux density (Brmax) =
2. Pull force (magnet to steel plate) =
3. Weight which the magnet can lift =
4. Material, grade =
5. Max operating temp and recommended operating temperature =
China Rare Earth Magnet Limited Manufactures Permanent Magnet with Special Magnetization Direction:
Please kindly check the following answers:
1. Br max of N52 grade: 1430-1580mT
2/3. The pull force and the weight which the magnet can lift shall be known only in actual application and test, especially when you build them into Halbach array.
4. Material grade you inquired: N52 Neodymium Iron Boron Magnets
5. Max operating temperature of N52 grade: 80 degree C
Recommended temperature: Lower than 80 degree C; N52 magnets will start losing the magnetism when the temperature gets closer to 80 degree C.
